My Thoughts:
I am in love with this book by Jennifer Adams and Alison Oliver, and so is Brucie, my two-year-old son. Jane Eyre: A Series of Board Books For Brilliant Babies is one of the most unique educational board books for babies and toddlers that I have ever laid eyes on. The illustrations are breathtaking and the content is amazing. Each page has a Jane Eyre inspired item or concept for kids to count. Some of the words and concepts included for children to count and explore are governess, towers, chalkboards, and insects. Of course, characters from the classic novel are included as well. I loved hearing Brucie point at a picture in the book and say excitedly,”Mr. Rochester!” I exploded with nerd girl pride. Since reading it the first time Brucie has brought it up to me to read with him over and over again. “Read Jane Eyre Mom”! One of the things that makes this board book so great is that it is interactive. Children are encouraged to count as they read. Brucie quickly caught on and can also read it independently, counting each object as he turns the pages.
I plan to keep this book as an heirloom for my grandchildren to enjoy one day. The illustrations and story content is that gorgeous. Also, I foresee myself going on a Baby Lit shopping spree soon and buying every book in the series! Here are a couple of photos of Brucie and me reading this divine book:
