About The Book:

From hitRECord, the immensely popular open collaborative production company, and its founder, Golden Globe-nominated actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, comes The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Volume 1.

The universe is not made of atoms; it’s made of tiny stories.

To create The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Volume 1, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, known within the hitRECord community as RegularJOE—directed thousands of collaborators to tell tiny stories through words and art. With the help of the entire creative collective, Gordon-Levitt culled, edited and curated over 8,500 contributions into this finely tuned collection of original art from 67 contributors. Reminiscent of the 6-Word Memoir series, The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Volume 1 brings together art and voices from around the world to unite and tell stories that defy size. My Thoughts:

The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Volume 1 by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and hitRECord is a thing of beauty. The book is put together in such a way that it resembles a book from the 1960s that I might have checked out of my elementary school library in the 1980s. Small, slightly worn, with a cloth cover and an old fashioned type font one might find in an old edition of an Amelia Bedelia  or Dr. Seuss book, just holding The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Vol. 1 in my hands made me feel good. Then I read it. As a whole, the tiny stories and illustrations are charming. Some have a distinctly bittersweet sensibility that seem to echo the sentiments of the younger generation that made this book possible. My four-year-old son even brought it to me the other day and asked me to read it to him. I complied, and he listened patiently while I read and explained the stories. (Make that explained all but  one suggestive tiny story about how thunder always lets lightning “come” first.) I was surprised at how relatable the stories are to even the youngest readers.

The perfect stocking stuffer for teens or adult children home for the holidays, The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Vol. 1 is the type of book I like to leave on a side table, so I can pick it up whenever I need a smile.

The following is a video where Joseph Gordon-Levitt explains the collaboration:
