Summary:

Less than twenty-four hours after fleeing to Paris, Maya Sinclair is the prime suspect in a brutal murder—and targeted by the real killer. When she’s viciously attacked in the gardens of Versailles, Maya barely escapes with her life thanks to sexy French journalist Simon Girard.

Simon has been investigating the mysterious death of his brother, an art forger with ties to the woman Maya is suspected of killing. Still healing from heartbreak of his own, Simon reluctantly joins forces with Maya, who has awakened feelings within him he thought long dead.

Their search for answers uncovers the existence of a secret society, and puts them on a quest to find a missing crucifix rumored to hold the key to everlasting life. Together, Maya and Simon race through Paris one step ahead of a killer who will do anything to ensure some secrets remain buried forever… (Summary provided by Carina Press.)

My Thoughts:

Reading The Paris Secret by Angela Henry was the highlight of my weekend! This book is a fun, suspenseful ride through the streets of Paris, and Maya, the main character, is a beautiful, complex, and intelligent heroine. Maya is a librarian who goes on a trip to Paris to mend a broken heart only to become entangled in a string of murders that involves a mysterious secret society and two priceless artifacts. When she becomes a suspect in the murder of her roommate, she goes on the run with a journalist named Simon. Did I mention that Simon is a major hottie?

From the electric green eyes of Maya’s love interest, Simon to a creepy Bichon Frise named Agnes, Angela Henry has an eye for detail that brings her characters to life for readers. I’ve been to Paris before and as I read The Paris Secret I longed to visit Paris again. I think a trip to Paris might just be in the cards for me since this is the second book in a week that I’ve read that takes place in the city of lights.

I enjoyed trying to piece together the mystery of  the missing crucifix and the tragic story of an abandoned daughter of a queen from France’s past. If you adored The Da Vinci Code as I did, then you are sure to love The Paris Secret and it’s romantic take on the intelligent thriller genre. I would LOVE to see a movie version of this one. Are you listening Hollywood?

Many thanks to Kismet Book Touring for including The Well-Read Wife on The Paris Secret tour.

Hmm, quite the question. As I’m from Germany & have forgotten almost every bit of French I’ve ever learned in school…it would have to be a . On the other hand…the things one could do with a brooding Frenchman without talking…yummm ;-)

There are soo many ways that I could answer this, but I guess I should stick with the realistic one and say a translator..aww…
