Summary: For Eve Weldon, moving to Greenwich Village is a dream come true. She’s following in the bohemian footsteps of her mother, who lived there during the early sixties among a lively community of Beat artists and writers. But when Eve arrives, the only scribe she meets is a grumpy ghost named Donald, and the only writing she manages to do is for chirpy segments on a morning news program, Smell the Coffee. The hypercompetitive network environment is a far cry from the genial camaraderie of her mother’s literary scene, and Eve begins to wonder if the world she sought has faded from existence. But as she struggles to balance her new job, demands from Donald to help him complete his life’s work, a budding friendship with a legendary fashion designer, and a search for clues to her mother’s past, Eve begins to realize that community comes in many forms—and that the true magic of the Village is very much alive, though it may reveal itself in surprising ways. My Thoughts:
At the center of the novel, The Ghost Of Greenwich Village by Lorna Graham, is Eve. After moving to Greenwich Village to find out about her mother’s past and becoming acquainted with a ghost named Donald that haunts her apartment, she soon procures a job at a morning talk show. I loved the scenes that took place at Smell The Coffee, the talk show where Eve is employed. It was fascinating to see how the writers put together the show. I never knew how much work went on behind the scenes at morning talk shows like the one portrayed in this novel. Eve is a very likable character, and I enjoyed the descriptions of her vintage outfits throughout the book. The Ghost Of Greenwich Village by Lorna Graham is a nice, breezy read. It’s the kind of book that is suited for a day of reading at the beach or for waiting on a plane at the airport. In other words, I think it has broad appeal and most readers will find Eve and her exploits in Greenwich Village entertaining.

I think I’d like this one. Reading about behind the scenes of a talk show sounds like fun and the setting of Greenwich Village can’t be beat.
