Summary:
My name is Meghan Chase.
I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who’s sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I’m not sure anyone can survive it.
This time, there will be no turning back. (Summary provided by Harlequin TEEN.)
My Thoughts:
Anyone who reads this blog on a regular basis knows by now that I love the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. For those of you who are new to The Well-Read Wife or are unfamiliar with the series, the Iron Fey is about a girl named Meghan Chase. Meghan was living her life as a normal yet awkward teen when one day all of that changed. Over the course of the series Meghan is pulled into the drama and politics of the Nevernever (the place where the faeries live) as well as learning of the existence of (and being forced to fight) the deadly Iron Fey.
The Iron Queen is the third book in the Iron Fey series and like the title of this post says, the series gets better with each book. Kagawa’s characters each have a richly developed back story that really causes the reader to invest in the story, and Kagawa is a master at pacing her stories just right. She’s a master-plotter? And just when it seems like every possible faerie idea has been done Kagawa takes the genre in a new direction. Kagawa’s tale of a young girl coming to terms with responsibility beyond her years is captivating.
I was in the airport on a layover when I finished the last third of this book, and I cried when I got to the end. I quickly looked around to make sure no one was looking. Crying in the airport over a book was definitely a first for me. But it was really sad! I dare say Mr. T would cry in an airport after reading this book. However, it is definitely worth the tears. I cannot wait to read The Iron Knight (Iron Fey #4)!

I cried when I read the death of one of my favourite characters in HP7. Also cried when my favourite character died in Kim Harrison’s The Hollow series and I still get misty eyed when he/she is mention (I don’t want to give any spoilers to people who haven’t read the series).
I cried SO MUCH when I was reading “The Time Traveler’s Wife”. I was like 30 or 20 pages away from the ending and I couldn’t stop crying, good thing it was 2 am, everyone was asleep and I was home.
I also cried while reading “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close”, such a beautiful book <3
i have cried during many books-i feel the connection with my imagination just traveling the world in these books sometimes.

I can’t wait to read the Iron Queen; whether I win this giveaway or not. The Iron Fey series is my favorite YA Fantasy series. If I don’t win, I know what I’m buying myself for my birthday.
Great review! I love this series. Your first review on The Iron King got me into it…So thanks!!!!
Yes, some books can make me cry. As a kid, the one that did was “Where the Red Fern Grows”. LoL…those redbones get me every time!
Such a great review. Only a couple of books have made me cry. Usually anything by Jude Deveraux always is a tear jerker. Thanks for the great contest.
I’ve never cried from a book. I’m just not the kind of person who cries very often.
I cry for a lot of things XD
But, I cried when I read Unearthly and Shiver… What I can do? I’m a emotional person XDDD
Thanks for the giveaway

Where the Red Fern Grows definitely made me cry
i dont think a book has ever made me cry but now that im a new mommy and everything makes me emotional, im sure its going to happen
I cried over the novel Evening, by Susan Minot. Not even a twinge during the movie of course, but her descriptions, in the novel, of lost love were heartbreaking. And I rarely cry at a book. Of Mice and Men is the only other I can think of. To this day I do not know if I was crying for the loss of Lenny or George’s pain. Probably does not matter, both are cry-worthy.
I cry every time I read To Kill a Mockingbird. It’s so touching and poignant.
I’ve almost cried from books, but no actual tears yet.
I used to read Lurlene McDaniel books when I was little, so I’m used to just BAWLING at books! The last one to make me cry was Delirium by Lauren Oliver.
Hmmm I cry all the time to book! Happy, sad you name it I’ve probably cried to it haha. I’ve cried to Harry Potter (Yes parts are sad), I’ve cried to Tess of the D’urbervilles and mny many more! At the moment I’m reading Delirium by Lauren Oliver and I’ve cried all ready haha
Alot of books make me very emotional but not many books make me physically cry.
I was young but when Sirius died in HP I teared up somewhat although they were more angry tears then sad ones i think (i ended up tossing the book across my room).
But, recently, the novel A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS by Khaled Hossieni had me crying a thousand splendid tears within the first few chapters. I pretty much balled like a baby throughout most of the plot. Then the semi-happy ending made me cry a thousand tears again. Oh man, what the main characters had to go through broke my heart in half.
My Sister’s Keeper made me cry for an hour. God that book is so sad. A Walk to Remember also makes me cry every time.
Anastacia’s Secret by Susanne Dunlap made me cry, also Richelle Mead’s VA series.
I guess I’m a softie!
There are so many books that make me cry. I’m such a sap. It’s not the character’s death that makes me cry but the mourner’s reaction to it. Weird, I know. Anyways, I’ve cried in Harry Potter, the Max Ride series, To Kill A Mockingbird, and endless others. Thanks for the oppertunity
I think a good book is one that can make you cry and laugh and scream all at the same time. I have read so many like that and I keep them, giving them to friends to enjoy just as much as I did. The most recent being Treachery in Death by J.D. Robb.
Yes. I read Joseph and the Old Man by Christopher Davis years and years ago and I still remember it like yesterday. It made me cry, it still does if I think on it too long.
I can’t believe I won! This is so awesome! Thanks so much for the great giveaway; I just finished reading The Iron King and I just bought The Iron Daughter, so I’m all set for when this come in the mail!
Yeah, they don’t have it at my library. Maybe I’ll find it for cheap online, though. Thanks for the recommend. At last, a book that isn’t all about vampires!
